N2 - The prevalence of personality disorders (pd) in 107 psychiatric inpatients with mostly affective disorders was studied. On the basis of the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM IV Axis II 90 (84,1%) of the 107 participants got the diagnosis of a pd, by the clinical diagnosis it were only 36 (33,6%). On an average every patient had 2,7 pd by SCID-II, 0,3 pd by the clinical diagnosis. Divided into personality disordered and comparison group by SCID II the participants did not vary concerning sex, familiar situation and profession. Furthermore the patients were investigated by Symptom-Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES), Inventory of Interpersonal Problems (IIP), Sense of Coherence Scale (SOC-29) and Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20). Participants with pd by SCID-II showed in all instruments of investigation more pathological results than the comparison group. Psychiatric diseases and social problems appear significantly more often in people with pd.
