TY - THES U1 - Dissertation / Habilitation A1 - Reininger, Thomas T1 - Problem gegessen? N2 - The current study examines the problem-solving ability of 30 women with Bulimia Nervosa, 30 women with Binge-Eating-Disorder, 30 women with Anxiety-Disorders and 30 healthy control subjects. Based on the classical model of problem-solving by D'Zurilla & Nezu (1971) and lead by a conceptualization of D'ZURILLA & MAYDEU-OLIVARES (1995) the following empirically evaluated Instruments to realize a process and outcome measurement of problem-solving were used: The Problem-Solving-Inventory (PSI, Heppner and Petersen, 1982), the Social-Problem-Solving-Inventory (SPSI-R, D’Zurilla and Nezu, 1990), the Means-End-Problem-Solving-Procedure (MEPS, Platt and Spivak, 1975) in a German translation by Kämmerer (1983) and the Inventory-of-Interpersonal-Problems (IIP, Horowitz, Strauss and Kordy, 1994). The results show significant lower problem-solving abilities in all three groups of patients in comparison to the normal control subjects. When the level of depression was take into account statistically these effects were minimized or nivelized. No difference in the problem-solving ability between the bulimic and the binge-eating group were found. Problem-solving ability is able to predict specific and unspecific characteristics of the diseases. This data give empirical support to recognize problem-solving ability for the bio-psycho-social model, the assessment and treatment of Bulimia Nervosa and Binge-Eating-Disorder.
